LONDON -- LONDON (AP) — Prince William provided an optimistic update on his spouse's well-being, as relayed by a hospital official, marking one of the few instances where the royal has commented on Kate's state since she disclosed her battle with cancer.
William embarked on a solitary tour of St. Mary’s Community Hospital on the Isles of Scilly, a cluster of islands off the Cornish coastline in the southwest of England. His purpose was to inaugurate a new facility featuring treatment beds for patients and a maternity ward.
“When I inquired about Kate, William responded, ‘she’s progressing well, thank you,’” recounted hospital administrator Tracy Smith to the press. “I then proposed that they might consider paying a visit with their children.”
Following her announcement on March 22 that she was undergoing cancer treatment, the Princess of Wales withdrew from public engagements. In a recorded message, she revealed the commencement of her chemotherapy.
This revelation came subsequent to King Charles III, her father-in-law, disclosing his own cancer diagnosis. Charles resumed his public duties last week, following Buckingham Palace's announcement that his medical team was encouraged by his recovery, despite ongoing treatment.
