The bundle resurgence is on the horizon.

Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery are gearing up to present their streaming offerings — Disney+, Hulu, and Max — in a package akin to the traditional cable TV bundle, as disclosed by the companies on Wednesday.

The latest rendition of the bundle, slated for a summer launch, will be accessible in both the ad-supported and commercial-free tiers. Although pricing details remain undisclosed, insiders suggest the option will come at a discounted rate.

In this scenario, Disney will essentially function as the distributor, gathering subscription fees from customers and allocating a portion to Warner Bros. Discovery, as per insider information.

This fusion of Max, Disney+, and Hulu will furnish streaming subscribers with a vast array of content from major broadcast networks like ABC and Fox, alongside cable networks such as TNT, TBS, CNN, Discovery Channel, Food Network, Disney Channel, and more. Notably, Fox, lacking its own entertainment streaming platform, licenses its content through Hulu.

This offering, reminiscent of the traditional cable TV bundle that has witnessed significant disruption in recent years, marks the latest collaboration between the two media juggernauts.

In recent months, Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney's ESPN, along with Fox Corp., have also united to offer a sports streaming service, slated for launch this autumn.

During an earnings call earlier on Wednesday, Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch hinted that the sports streaming venture might likely be bundled with other entertainment streaming services.

Disney has long offered its streaming services — Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ — bundled together. However, ESPN+ will continue to operate independently from the sports streaming venture and is not part of the Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney bundle. While Hulu's content has been recently integrated into the Disney+ platform, both services still require separate subscriptions.

Max is priced at $9.99 monthly with ads or $15.99 without. Disney+'s basic tier with ads costs $7.99 monthly — or bundled with Hulu, $9.99 monthly — while its premium plan is $13.99 monthly, or $19.99 with Hulu. Meanwhile, Hulu alone costs $7.99 with ads or $17.99 ad-free.
