Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze that erupted in the Chandpai region of the East Sundarbans in Bagerhat on May 3.
Divisional Forest Officer Kazi Mohammad Nurul Karim reported around 12:30pm that there is no indication of fire remaining in the vicinity.
Although the firefighters concluded their operations late yesterday afternoon, the fire had been brought under control but not fully extinguished.
The fire broke out in Latif's Chila area near the Amurbunia patrol post of the mangrove forest at approximately 3:30pm.
Previously, the fire service noted challenges in combating the inferno due to the lack of nearby water sources and the dense foliage in the Sundarbans.
Precautionary measures were implemented to prevent the fire from spreading further.
