A fresh vampire thriller flick titled "Divine Flesh" is poised to enter the opulent, hedonistic realm of 1980s Los Angeles.
Kristen Stewart, renowned for her portrayal as Bella Swan in "Twilight," and Oscar Isaac, acclaimed for his adaptability in roles, are teaming up to embody a wedded duo—Raoul (Isaac) and Alex (Stewart)—in Panos Cosmatos' film, noted for its visually-arresting work "Mandy."
"Flesh of the Gods," slated for unveiling at Cannes, is supported by WME Independent, CAA Media Finance, and XYZ Films, showcasing a formidable crew behind the curtains. The screenplay hails from Andrew Kevin Walker, the scribe behind the perennial favorite "Se7en," with production helmed by Adam Mackay and Betsy Koch of Hyperobject Industries.
Oscar Isaac and Gena Konstantinakos are also serving as producers, representing Mad Gena Media, the production outfit Isaac co-established with his spouse, Elvira Lind.
"Dreamflesh," set against the glittering backdrop of 1980s Los Angeles, chronicles Raoul and Alex as they traverse from their lap of luxury to immerse themselves in the city's vibrant nocturnal scene. Their trajectory alters upon encountering a enigmatic and magnetic persona known as Nameless and her clique of revelers. Ensnared in a lavish, surreal realm of excess, the couple finds themselves embarking on a tumultuous odyssey.
In Cosmatos' words, "Flesh of the Gods," akin to Los Angeles itself, straddles the divide between reverie and nightmare. MacKay further adds, "We are introducing a film brimming with stellar performers, vampires, a groovy '80s punk ambiance, with exceptional directors and writers. It's poised to be the next groundbreaking cinematic endeavor."
"Dreamflesh," slated to commence filming later this year, marks the third collaboration between Cosmatos and XYZ Films. "Nekrokosm" is earmarked as the subsequent venture from A24, succeeding their recent release of "Love Lies Bleeding," an '80s-style thriller featuring Stewart.
Production is anticipated to kick off later this year, with XYZ Films overseeing international distribution at the Cannes Film Festival. In sum, it promises to be a kinetic, electrifying vampire opus with top-tier talent both in front of and behind the lens.
