Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today affirmed that the nation's military has garnered trust and confidence from the public by standing alongside citizens.

"Our armed forces now stand in solidarity with the populace and have earned trust and confidence," she declared.

The premier conveyed these sentiments while addressing a gathering at the Army Central Auditorium in Dhaka cantonment.

Earlier, the head of government inaugurated the newly constructed Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) Bhaban and Sena Prangan (Army Central Auditorium) Bhaban in Dhaka Cantonment.

PM Hasina noted that following the events of August 1975, wherein a faction of dissatisfied army personnel played a role in the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family, the general public had lost trust and confidence in the military.

Since assuming office for the first time in 1996, she emphasized taking measures to restore the public's trust and confidence in the armed forces.

"I strived to foster trust and confidence in the populace regarding our military, which is crucial for safeguarding the independence and sovereignty of our nation," she emphasized.

In the event of any adverse circumstances, the military now stands firmly alongside the people, asserted Hasina.

She highlighted that her administration formulated the Forces Goal-2030 in alignment with the Defence Policy 1974, crafted by the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Presently, the government under the AL banner is executing programs aimed at modernizing the nation's armed forces and equipping them with contemporary knowledge, she elaborated.

"Our objective is to equip our armed forces with cutting-edge technological expertise. We are diligently working towards this aim," she affirmed.

PM Hasina underscored that Bangladesh's armed forces are internationally lauded for their exceptional contributions to United Nations Peacekeeping missions. She expressed the government's commitment to further enhancing the reputation of the armed forces on the global stage.

Concluding the event, the prime minister planted a sapling (Chatiyan) on the premises of the Army Central Auditorium.
