Three corpses were unearthed Friday in the Mexican locale where an American and two Australians have been absent for numerous days, multiple sources disclosed to CNN.

Authorities haven’t verified whether the corpses correspond to the trio of missing tourists, as per a source. However, a local law enforcement source disclosed to CNN that authorities have stumbled upon their pickup truck, charred, approximately 40 miles (65 kilometers) from the location where the corpses were discovered.

The human remains were stumbled upon on a precipice to the southern part of Ensenada municipality, Baja California, in accordance with two security sources and a member of a specialized activist group engaged in searching for missing individuals.

American Jack Carter Rhoad and Australian siblings Jake and Callum Robinson were reported missing on April 29, according to Reuters, citing the Baja California prosecutor’s office.

The trio of companions are assumed to have been on a surfing and camping expedition close to Ensenada town, roughly 60 miles south of Tijuana.

Mexican authorities previously stated that a vehicle, tents, and a cellular phone had been located during explorations of the area where the men were last sighted. Three Mexican citizens were under interrogation regarding the case, albeit it remains ambiguous if they are suspects.

One of the informants stated that the location where the corpses were discovered — about 50 miles south of Ensenada town — is arduous to reach, and that rappelling equipment will be utilized to retrieve the corpses.

The scorched white pickup truck had been detected at a ranch in Santo Tomas, a local police source disclosed to CNNE on Friday.

Despite the absence of identifiable markings, which were incinerated, the vehicle was confirmed to be the identical one Callum Robinson showcased an image of on Instagram a week earlier, in accordance with police sources involved in the investigation.

Around midday on Friday, a CNNE producer witnessed investigators extracting the truck at the Santo Tomas ranch. Investigators transported the vehicle to a police station for further scrutiny, as CNNE observed.

A spokesman from the US State Department informed CNN that they are cognizant of reports concerning the discovered corpses and are vigilantly monitoring the situation, adding: “At this juncture, we have no further commentary.”

The family of Jake and Callum Robinson were en route to Mexico, aiming to approach “as proximately as conceivable to the locale where they were last sighted,” they stated in a declaration to Channel Nine News, a CNN affiliate.

The Robinsons expressed: “Callum and Jake are remarkable human beings. We adore them profoundly, and this shatters our spirits.”

Channel Seven, also a CNN affiliate, relayed that the siblings had attended the Coachella music festival a week before traversing into Mexico from San Diego, intending “to surf for several days,” as per another statement from the family.

“Surfing is a fervor they both share. Our sole solace currently is that they were unitedly engrossed in something they ardently adore,” the parents articulated in a statement to Channel Seven.
