Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has been crowned the Football Writers' Association's men's player of the year, while City forward Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw clinched the women's honor, as announced on Friday.

The 23-year-old England international Foden, who has netted 24 goals across all competitions this season, including his crucial goal in their Club World Cup final triumph, secured 42% of the vote, surpassing Arsenal's Declan Rice and his City teammate Rodri.

"I'm tremendously proud to have secured this accolade. Presently, my focus lies on finishing the season with utmost determination and aiding City in capturing more trophies," Foden expressed.

City swept both awards for the second time in a span of five years, with Jamaica international Shaw bagging the women's prize following a remarkable season where she became the club's highest-ever women's scorer.

Shaw, whose season was cut short last week due to a foot injury, leads the Women's Super League scoring charts with 21 goals, and emerged victorious in the vote ahead of Chelsea's Lauren James and City's Alex Greenwood.

Foden and Shaw are set to be honored at a ceremony scheduled for May 16.

Foden's City presently stands second in the Premier League, trailing Arsenal by a solitary point with a game in hand, while Shaw's side sits atop the WSL, boasting a six-point advantage over Chelsea, who have played one game less.
