The government has recalibrated soybean oil pricing, elevating the price of commonly utilized bottled products from Tk 163 to Tk 167 per liter.

Nevertheless, the commerce ministry slashed the price of unpacked soybean oil by Tk 2 to Tk 147.

Pricing for palm super oil has been established at Tk 135 per liter.

The updated rates will promptly take effect as VAT is being remitted at the mills, as stated by State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu post the formulation of revised prices during a meeting on Thursday.

However, historical data indicates that prices don't immediately adjust following government decrees.

Titu asserted, "When prices decline, it requires 15-20 days to process imported products."

Per the fresh rates, a five-liter bottle of soybean oil now costs Tk 818, up from Tk 800.

Previously, mill proprietors declared a Tk 10 hike in soybean oil price per liter. But upon the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association's appeal to the government for authorization of the price adjustment starting Tuesday, Titu rebutted, asserting no allowance for a hike in soybean oil prices on that day.

Following multiple discussions since mill owners' declaration of price hikes, the ministry has finally established new edible oil prices.

Before Ramadan, the last reduction in bottled soybean oil price occurred on March 1, with a drop of Tk 10 to Tk 163 per liter, setting the price of a five-liter bottle at Tk 800.
