Xavi's side botched the opportunity to drive themselves once again into the Liga title race on a night where they lost two vital midfieldersThis might have been Barcelona's opportunity. After Genuine Madrid dropped focuses in Valencia on Saturday, and Girona lost to Mallorca before on Sunday, Xavi's side had a crawl of chance to crawl their direction back into La Liga's title race as they went to Bilbao to confront Athletic Club. Yet again however they let those expectations slip once more, as they had to make due with a boring goalless draw while wounds stacked up.
Joao Cancelo came nearest to breaking the gridlock for Barcelona from the beginning, as his brassy long-range throw was snared off the line by Yeray Alvarez. The Blaugrana persevered through a generally hopeless first half, as Frenkie de Jong and Pedri were both constrained off with wounds before the break.
Barca weren't greatly improved after half-time, as while Xavi's side partook in most of ownership, they had essentially nothing to show for it. Indeed, even the normally electric Lamine Yamal looked ailing in thoughts on the conservative - a crazy punishment yell filling in as his main genuine activity.
Toward the finish, all things considered, Xavi was left watching a group that would never fully sort anything out. Barca might have crawled once more into the title race here; all things considered, they failed, which has been a lot of the narrative of their season to date.
Goalkeeper and GuardMarc-Andre ter Stegen (6/10):Had two recoveries to make, and made them both. In any case had close to nothing to do.
Jules Kounde (6/10):Succeeded in a portion of his one-on-one protecting, and kept Inaki Williams calm. Might have finished with getting forward a touch more.
Pau Cubarsi (7/10):One more amazing appearance at the back from the young person. He flew into a couple of tackles, yet a portion of his passing was crazy.
Ronald Araujo (6/10):Made an amazing freedom in the primary half to keep Williams out. He's shaped a consistent organization with Cubarsi.
Joao Cancelo (4/10):A bold exertion in the main half nearly gave Barca the lead. He was generally ailing in key regions, and might have been far more honed in the last third.
MidfieldAndreas Christensen (6/10):Clean at the foundation of midfield, regardless of whether he was somewhat restricted in his passing.
Frenkie de Jong (5/10):A noteworthy opening prior to being going down with a lower leg injury. Looked a frightful one.
Ilkay Gundogan (6/10):Played a touch of all over the place. Begun as a No.10 yet compelled to drop further because of wounds, and truly put in a shift any place he was inquired.
Pedri (5/10):A couple of brilliant minutes prior to being constrained off with one more injury near the precarious edge of half-time. Can't get a break.
Attack
Raphinha (4/10):Poor on the conservative in the primary half, and not much better when he changed to one side after the break.
Robert Lewandowski (4/10):Floated continually with an end goal to reach out, yet didn't get the assistance he really wanted. Looks baffled.
Subs and SupervisorFermin Lopez (5/10):Welcomed on for De Jong. Ailing in midfield quality.
Lamine Yamal (7/10):
Presented toward the finish of the primary half for the harmed Pedri. Direct on the wing, and hoped to get things going.
Joao Felix (5/10):A late, and ineffectual, appearance.
Inigo Martinez (N/A):
No opportunity to have an effect.
Oriol Romeu (N/A):No chance to have an effect.
Xavi (5/10):Taken a few fascinating actions, including sidelining Yamal and staying with Cubarsi. He persevered through a hopeless first half, as two central members were sidelined with wounds. The second wasn't greatly improved, as Barca were inert. Not a memorable night in that frame of mind to neglect.
